Evacuation Warning Issued As Crews Battle Brush Fire In Jurupa Valley Area
Residents in the Jurupa Valley area have been ordered to evacuate as a brush fire sweeps through the region. The Cranston Fire has already consumed over 1,500 acres and is threatening homes and businesses.
Firefighters Battle The Blaze
Hundreds of firefighters are battling the blaze, which started on Monday afternoon. The fire is being fueled by dry vegetation and strong winds, and fire crews are facing challenging conditions.
"We're doing everything we can to contain the fire and protect lives and property," said Fire Chief Tony Borrelli. "But this is a very dangerous situation."
Evacuations Ordered
Evacuation orders have been issued for residents in the following areas:
- Cranston Avenue between Buena Vista Avenue and Riverside Avenue
- Rubidoux Avenue between 5th Street and 9th Street
- 9th Street between Rubidoux Avenue and Bellegrave Avenue
Residents are being urged to evacuate immediately and to follow the instructions of law enforcement officials.
Shelters Open
Shelters have been opened for evacuees at the following locations:
- Rubidoux High School, 3595 Rubidoux Boulevard, Jurupa Valley
- Jurupa Valley City Hall, 8930 Limonite Avenue, Jurupa Valley
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
