Coach Rodney Terry addressed the media before the 2023-24 Texas Longhorns basketball season in Austin on Tuesday. Here's everything he had to say:
On his expectations:
"We have a lot of talent on this team. We've got a lot of guys who can do a lot of different things. My expectation is that we're going to be a really good team and compete for a championship. We're going to work hard every day to get better, and we're going to have a lot of fun doing it."
On the team's strengths:
"Our strength is our versatility. We've got five guys on the floor who can all score, rebound, and defend. We're also very deep, so we can play a lot of different guys and still be competitive. I think that's going to be a big advantage for us this season."
On the team's weaknesses:
"We're still a young team, and we're going to have some growing pains. We're also going to need to improve our free throw shooting and our rebounding. But I think we have the potential to be a really good team, and I'm excited to see what this season holds."
On leading the program into the future:
"I'm excited to be the head coach of the Texas Longhorns. This is a special place, and I'm committed to building a championship program. We're going to work hard every day to get better, and we're going to represent the Longhorns with pride."
Additional highlights from the press conference:
